Expand this bracket: 2(3a + 5)

2(3a + 5) :

First you have to multiply everything inside the bracket by the number outside the bracket: = 2 x 3a + 2 x 5 or = (2 x 3a) + (2 x 5)

This can then be simplified to give the answer: (2 x 3a) = 6a (2 x 5) = 10
So: = 6a + 10
