How to write an introduction for an essay

In a close reading extract, make sure you include the context and introduce your topic in your introduction. Then you must include a thesis statement: i.e: your argument and how you will intend on answering the question. Think of your introduction as a roadmap to your body paragraphs, if you develop it well then it helps you write a better and more focused essay.
