How would you structure a 6 mark essay question?

For a 6 marker, you should be developing 2 distinct points, totalling 4 marks, and then providing a well reasoned evaluation as a conclusion for the last 2 marks. For the two distinct points, it is important to read the question carefully as it may not be simply a point for and against a certain topic. Therefore, before attempting the question, examine the key buzzword and decide what it is asking you to do; typically examples are: evaluate, discuss, why etc. With regards to the evaluation, you must not only summarise the key points mentioned but also provide an evaluative judgement. This can be in the form of stating whether one point is more important than another; whether there are cases where they are an exception the economic norm and many more. If we run through an example essay together, we can identify how it has been structured and what techniques we can draw from it and use in your own essays.
