What should I emphasise in my personal statement.

Subjects

Your CV covers your subjects, but your PS allows you the opportunity to show that you undertsand the implications of what you are learning, how they apply to what you want to study at university and convince them that you really are interested enough in the subjects to do well and work hard

Extra-Curriculars

Universities want students with proactivity and leadership, as these are two huge predictors of being successful in securing good jobs in the future. There are opportunities to run societies or become a board member/ leader. If you have interest in a cetain sport or activity, demonstrating interest in becoming a leader in a university society will be a huge plus

Career goals

Universities reputations are massively impacted by where their alumni go on to work. If you have a clear idea of the direction that you want to go in, it increases your chances of being successful and making the university look good.
