What should I write in a personal statement?

Personal statements explain why you are passionate about the subject you have applied for. So they might include what you have studied as part of your curriculum, and how this led you to explore your subject outside of school e.g. "which led me to ..." read this book/journal on X, watch this programme on Y, and/or attend this talk on Z. This will demonstrate too to readers that you deserve this place over anyone else: you have gone beyond the bare minimum to really engage with your subject. Remember to include things though that are only relevant to your course e.g. it's great you completed your Bronze D of E but what does this add to your argument that you are really passionate about the French language, or History, or Biology? It should be clear throughout your statement why you are applying for this one course.
