Were the main consequences of the Treaty of Versailles economic?

When teaching students and preparing them for A level history essay questions, this is how I would usually structure a lesson.

Firstly, I would talk through with student what the economic consequences of the T of V were to see the extent of their knowledge and explain to them any concepts they did not understand.

Next, would make a spider diagram with the other potential paragraphs topics: reparation payments (132 billion gold marks), Dawes and Young plan (economy tied to USA), loss of land (the Saar, Alsace Lorraine), Article 231 (war guilt clause), demiliterisation (the Rhineland and restriction of army and navy - 6 war ships), etc.

Would then discuss which they thought were most relevent and useful examples to make their argument.

Talk about essay structure, how paragraphs would link.

Make detailed plan for them to revise from at a later date.
