Joining a political party this may cover a range of participative methods from commenting on policy to attending party conferences or simply being a donor or fund raiser.

Joining a pressure group, again this may cover a range of activities from simply offering donations to joining protests and campaigns e.g. NUS and the Dec. 2010 tuition fees protest that nearly 50,000 demonstrators campaigned against the rise in university tuition fees.
