Describe 2 characteristics of Baroque music.

Baroque composers such as Bach and used a variety of techniques in their work. A commonly used feature was the Ground Bass. This was a pattern, used in the bassline of a piece of music, that was repeated for periods of time whilst the other parts were varied. In terms of harmony, Baroque music was mainly diatonic, with little use of modes. Composers such as Handel would mainly use chords I, IV and V of the respective keys, whilst also using mainly perfect, plagual and imperfect cadences to resolve phrases.
