Describe Five stylistic features of a piece that would of been composed in the Romantic period

  1. The use of rich chromatc harmonies - this gives ambiguity to the key and more emotional impact to the piece. Examples of chromatic chords that could be used to achieve this are: Diminished 7th, Augmented 6th (French, Italian, German), Neapolitan 6th. 2. Expressive leaps in the melodic line and expressive dynamics - used to highlight climatic moments in the piece. 3. Use of more unrelated keys - moves between keys are les simple than that of dominant or major/ minor relations, at first glance it can be seen the music moves to comepletly unrelated keys. 4. Moderated forms and phrases - the music will so longer stick to balaced four bar phrases, allowing the music to flow with its expression. The structure of pieces also don't remain textbook, composers play with forms adding extra codas/ codettas or even full sections that go agasint classical structures.
