Where did the traditional Greek theatre( drama) come from?

The Greek drama developed in the early 6th century B.C. from the ritual dances during the festivals of Dionysus (Greek name: Διόνυσος,Βάκχος). At first participants danced in groups, later they developed the ancient Greek chorus( Greek name: Χορός). The main singer asked questions about the life of Dionysus and the rest of the chorus answered these questions with specific rhythm and movement. The ancient Greek drama developed from these dialogues between the main singer and the chorus. The first proper plays were tragedies in the form of episodes and songs. Comedy did not appear to the Greek stage until 5th century B.C.
