Outline the multi-store memory model

 The multi-store memory model was proposed by Richard Shiffrin and Richard Atkinson in 1974. It consists of 3 main components and several processes. The first component is a sensory store, which constantly recieves information from  appendeges like eyes or ears, but most of it will be lost if no attention is paid. Attention brings information to the next component called short-term memory. It has a very limited capacity: 7+/- 2 chunks ( Miller " The Magical Number Seven Plus Minus Two"), which means that if not rehearsed, information is pushed out.  Its duration can last only up to 30 seconds. Rehearsal brings information to the last component: long-term memory with potentially unlimited capacity and duration.
