How should I approach an essay style question under the time limit of an exam?

Hi, that's a good question! The key is to make a good plan before you start writing. First highlight key points in the question in order to make sure you know exactly what the question is asking you. This will make planning your answer a lot easier. You should allow yourself roughly 5%-10% of your time to make your plan. This can be through a spider diagram or bullet points, whatever works best for you. The remainder of the time should be spent on writing your essay. You will need a clear introduction where you outline what your main argument will be. Your text body should consist of four to five paragraphs which use the PEE (point, evidence, explain) technique. PEE is where you make your Point, use Evidence to support your point and then Explain your point. You should finish with a clear and simple conclusion to round up your argument. Always make sure you leave five minutes at the end of your time to check your work! Make sure to look out for spelling or grammatical errors which could heavily lower your awarded marks.
