Hamlet is a play rooted in and riddled with deception. The characters within this play ceaselessly deceive and connive and as a result reality merges with fantasy to the ultimate demise of all the principal parts, bar Horatio.Paragraphs:Antic-Disposition - 'To be or not to be' , Hamlet's 'crafty madness' (3.1.8). - Emotional application of deception.Play within a play - The Murder of Gonzago. Attempt to deceive Claudius into betraying his emotions - practical application of deception.Motif of decay - Commentary on the portrayal of reality within the play and the lacking morality that it creates.Conclusion:The world of deception is exclusive to the characters, we as the audience can understand the numerous deceits. Hamlet is a world where little is as it seems, but for the internal participants, not the audience.
