What is transcription and how does it differ in eukaryotes and prokaryotes

Transcription is where mRNA is produced by RNA polymerase from DNA templates.In eukaryotes, the DNA is first transcribed as pre-mRNA, which is then modified to give RNA. In prokaryotes the DNA is transcribed directly to mRNA
