Why did you decide to become a doctor and not a nurse?

I did of course consider carefully whether to be a doctor or nurse. Both the roles are integral to the functioning of our healthcare system, and they are somewhat different. I am compelled by the caring aspect that a nurse provides, and believe I would be attentive and would enjoy witnessing a patient progress through their care. However my real interest lies in the quest of diagnosis and medical knowledge. Although care is also important to me, the diagnostic quest led me to apply to be a doctor.

Why do you want to be a doctor and not a nurse?

Ethical scenario (medical school interview question): You're a junior doctor working in A&E and are triaging a patient with a head injury. He doesn't want to see you as you're "not white", so can't be a "proper doctor". Discuss the issues raised.
