Can you give an example of a Civil Rights ruling by the US Supreme Court and explain it’s significance?

A classic example of a Supreme Court ruling on Civil Rights would be Plessy vs Ferguson which legitimised the doctrine of ‘Seperate but Equal’ and legalised segregation in schools etc.. This was later overturned in Brown (or Topeka) vs Board of Education.
