Talk me through an ethical issue which you have experienced in your work experience placements.

The student should include an awareness of the many ethical dilemmas faced on a daily basis by veterinary surgeons in practice when writing their personal statements. These issues, coupled with a personal experience of them, often form a nice introduction into an engaging personal statement, or act as a way to illustrate knowledge gained from a particular work experience placement later in the statement.I want to hear what the student knows about the issue, what makes it particularly important in the veterinary world, how it affects animal welfare and the bigger picture regarding management of the issue and public perspectives etc, dependent on the issue presented. By discussing this we can make a valuable contribution to the development of the statement as a mature, insightful, knowledgeable piece of writing.
