Examine the extent to which the Democratic Party in the US may be described as both fiscally and socially liberal.

The democratic party in the US focuses on implementing polices that are both socially and fiscally liberal. Concerning liberal issues, the democrats push for leftist and progressive reforms. Unlike the republican party, which has a conservative stance, the democrats endorse, for instance, gay-marriage and abortion. As far as the democrats' fiscal policies are concerned, the party seeks to implement policies that allow the government to intervene in and control economic processes. The republican party wants the opposite. Republicans want to give more power to businesses and companies through, for instance, lower taxes.
