How should I structure my conclusion in an essay?

Always begin your conclusion by providing a judgement on the question. This should be a simple statement which summarises your argument. You should then give a reason for your answer, and explain why you disagree with other possible answers to the question. Try to do this concisely. To get the highest marks, you should make an interesting point about the nature of the question in your final sentence. For example, if the question was:'Was the navy the most important contributor to victory in the Napoleonic Wars?'your final sentence could point out that economic and social factors such as support for the wars and funding from the British Empire also contributed to victory, rather than just military factors.
