How do you make calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) from Calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and what are the equations.

Thermally decompose the calcium carbonate:

CaCO-> CaO + CO2

Now mix the CaO with water:

CaO + H2O -> Ca(OH)2
