What is the most important part about writing a medical school personal statement?

I would say that the most important part of writing a medical school personal statement is to create a narrative in regards to how your interest grew towards the subject and what actions you took to further your understanding of your chosen degree. It's all well and good having done lots of work experience but if you write a list you can't show your potential university that your interest was naturally grown and that you placed the onus on yourself to go beyond your school curriculum.
