Give an explanation as to why some people see religiosity as declining in the Western world. (3)

One explanation for this decline is an idea coined by Max Weber called rationality. This refers to the way rational ways of thinking have taken over that of religious ways of thinking, and can largely be attributed to scientific breakthroughs that have explained once unexplainable phenomena. This can be seen when looking at the medical model, we now see illness as biologically rooted, and it is treated with medication instead of religious practices i.e. exorcisms.
