How can i make a good first impression with my personal statement?

Many people try to open their statement with a witty line or a pun. I would not recommend doing this, it just makes it look like you have googled 'funny history personal statement introductions'. The readers have probably heard them all before! I would recommend that the best way to make a good impression would be to maintain a polite, competent and informed tone throughout with the content listed in a logical order that lends itself to a pleasurable and easy reading experience for the reader.
