If your given them for the exam was 'translucent' and your subject was flowers, give an example of an artist you would choose to inspire your pieces, giving reasons.

Mat Collishaw is a photographer who in 2014 produced a collection called 'Burning Flowers'. The images he created show vibrant flowers, often fully bloomed, being engulfed in a single flame. As the flame is translucent, the bright colours of the flowers are distorted. The flame represents destruction, an ambiguous theme- this could imply the destruction of nature, however it could also signify that the flowers are coming to the end of their life. Instead of portraying wilting flowers that arguably are losing their beauty, they are shown as being cremated whilst still holding elegant form, remaining in the same visual way as people prefer to think of them. As a result Collishaw's images are poetic.
