What do you think lies in the future for the NHS?

Currently, the NHS is facing a number of difficulties. These include lack of funding, inefficient use of resources, lack of staffing and increasing demand. The future of the NHS will rely on solutions to these issues being found and implemented effectively.Due to the ageing population and increasing co-morbidities (for example, high blood pressure, diabetes and depression), the NHS is under increasing strain. By increasing care within the community, we may be able to prevent hospital admissions. GP surgeries could employ a more diverse team, including nurse practitioners, health care assistants, mental health workers and physios, to divert less complex patients away from the doctors. This may allow for longer appointment times with the GPs, allowing them to assess and manage co-morbidities more effectively, and leading to greater patient satisfaction.
