What is the impact of new and emerging technology on production?

New and emerging technology can have many positive impacts on production. The improvement in technology can be brought into businesses and manufacturers to improve quality, accuracy, production rate and speed and consistency in the products. A few examples of technology that could be used in such a situation includes robots or automated machines which can be programmed to complete one particular task and to repeat it, increase the amount of products made and even work longer hours as working hours of people and fatigue aren't problems that will be present and finally, camera and computer based quality control where it can reduce inaccuracy due to human error. However, investing in such technology can be expensive for the company - they often have a high start-up cost and maintenance costs, and will still need a workforce to help with maintenance (who require a different skill set) but could end up being financially beneficial in the future.
