How do I balance context with film analysis?

In terms of writing an essay for Media Studies, the analysis should provide the meat of your work. It is important to watch the film several times and take notes before divulging in great detail. The more detailed you write, the more likely it is that you will be saying something original. In regards to context then, do not just keep it to one opening paragraph. Instead, break up your context and evidence into small chunks that you can disperse throughout the essay.
The context should act as a foundation for your analysis, keeping it up in focus and giving the examiner a clearer understanding of both your point and the thought process behind it.
