Write 240 grams as a fraction of 4kg in its simplest form

Firstly, we want to make both measurements in grams. This means that we need to change 4kg (kilograms) to grams. Kilo means 1000, therefore there must be 1000 grams ( kilo gram) in 1kg. If we have 4kg, this will mean that we have 4000 grams (4 x 1000 grams). We must now write the two numbers as fraction. 240 grams as a fraction of 4000 grams (4kg) is:240/4000To simply the fraction we need to think about what number goes into 240 and 4000. We know that both numbers end in 0 for example, so 10 is definitely a factor of 240 and 4000. Divide both numbers by 10:24/400Now we need to think about another number that goes into both 24 and 400, the numerator (top number = 24) and the denominator (bottom number = 400). 4 is another number that will go into both numbers:Divide 24 an 400 by 4 ==> 6/100Since both numbers are still even, we can use 2 to divide both 6 and 100 by.Divide 6 and 100 by 2 ===> 3/503/50 is the simplest fraction that we can have because 3 cannot go into 50 without a remainder. To check our answer, we can take 3/50 away from 240/4000.240/4000 - 3/50 = 0As this equals zero, we know that 3/50 = 240/4000
