With reference to a named psychological theory, outline how the negative attitude of an individual or of a team can be changed. 4 marks

The Persuasive Communication Theory can be used to change a negative attitude of a performer. This theory typically involves a coach persuading the individual performer to adopt a more positive attitude. To ensure this is successful, they're a number of factors which must occur. Firstly, the persuader, the one giving the giving the message must be significant to the performer and hold a high status. The message given from the persuader must be correct, coherent and accurate but also delivered with enthusiasm. Finally, the receiver themselves must be willing and motivated to alter their attitude.
