How do I do work out the area of a rectangle?

The first step is to label the sides of the rectangle. The longest side is the 'length' - put an L next to this. The shorter side is the 'width' - put a W next to this. The second step is to multiply the length and the width together. This will give you your area. To complete a question asking about area, you always have to have units. The units for the area of something is centimetres squared, the short way of writing this is 'cm2'. After the area write cm2 and the answer is complete.
