Compare anaerobic respiration in a yeast cell with anaerobic respiration in a muscle cell (3 marks)

This is a comparison question therefore all statements must compare the two types of cells in the question- muscle and yeast. This question is worth 3 marks so we should give 3 statements. What do we know about anaerobic respiration? In a muscle cell glucose is converted to lactic acid & energy. In a yeast cell glucose is converted to ethanol, carbon dioxide & energy. Answering the question: Yeast produces ethanol whereas muscles produce lactic acid. Yeast produces carbon dioxide, muscles do not. Both release small amounts of energy.
