The city of Salford is marketed as being a modern city with various contemporary features to underpin this imagery of the city. The city has recently undergone various major developments with the creation of extensive city parks, cleaned waterways and large innovative buildings designed for business. For example the MediaCityUK complex is a large mixed use development home to BBC and ITV studios that has become a European hub for advanced media services. The location of Salford has been a major resource in representing the city. Salford Geographical location places it in the centre of the UK with extensive transport connections with train links to London and a multitude of large cities in the UK. The international connections have also been a key area of marketing with its proximity to Manchester Airport the third busiest airport in the UK. Salford has also been represented as green city with various environmental aspects. This includes the opening of large parks to provide local residents with large spaces for leisure activities and the cleaning up of waterways which is hoped to help attract various tourists from the UK and across the world.
