Eukaryotic cells are much larger than prokaryotic meaning that they can have larger organelles. The main difference is that Eukaryotic cells have a nucleus to contain DNA whilst prokaryotic cells have a Nucleoid which is a string of DNA, not contained in the nucleus. Eukaryotic cells also have membrane bound organelles unlike prokaryotic cells. These include:Mitochondria (site of respiration)The nucleus (contains DNA and controls the functioning of the cell)Chloroplasts in plants (site of photosynthesis)Permanent vacuoles in plants (structural support and turgidity)Ribosomes (much larger in Eukaryotes than in Prokaryotes) (protein synthesis)All prokaryotic cells have a cell wall, unlike eukaryotic cells where only fungi and plants have cell walls.
