How do you answer the question "why medicine" in medical school interviews?

Why Medicine? That is a common question that is asked at virtually every medical school interview. I myself attended four medical school interviews before getting into medical school and had successfully attained an offer from all four places. I did this by answering the question logically. Start from the beginning - I spoke about my past history of completing a BSc Biomedical Sciences degree and this degree, despite completely enjoying it, helped me come to realise that I medicine was more the career I was after. I love and have always loved science but there is an element within the field of medicine that is missing in all other scientific careers and that is being able to see the translation of science into clinical practice. Essentially, the question is asking you why YOU want to do medicine and what made you consider it in the first place and how you know it is the right career path for you, since it is a long commitment. I feel I have good experience in the interview field and would be honoured to help you put together the perfect answer encompassing your views and experiences to get the authenticity across well in these interviews.
