Why do you want to be a doctor?

Most medical school interviews will start with this question or at least mention it at some point in the process. Furthermore, students may get flustered by it despite having a rehearsed answer. Many universities just use it as a way to break the ice and make the candidate feel comfortable as they assume you have a prepared response. Therefore, it is important to expect this question, but to remember that the examiner has heard it all before and that it will not have the biggest impact on the outcome of your interview.That said, here are some examples of good responses that are not frequently used which may help to give a good initial impression.1) There are many diverse specialities to explore once you finish medical school that you can expect to find something you enjoy and suites you. 2) Quite an inquisitive individual with an interest in human biology , therefore medicine seems to be the logical choice as it combines the two.Most importantly, make it personal to you and please avoid cliches such as 'I like to help people'.
