Explain the process of sand casting

Place the mould(s) within the drag & fill with casting sand (compact well)
Turn the drag over & place the cope over the drag. Place sprue pins on the bottom of the mould(s) and fill the cope with sand (compact)
remove the cope- and pull the mould(s) & sprue pins out of the casting sand
replace the cope taking care to leave the sand as compact as possible
create a pouring reservoir next to one of the sprue pins
pour molten aluminium from the crucible into the pouring reservoir down the runner, until it emerges from the riser
leave to cool, and break off the casting sand, then clean the moulded aluminium (remove the sprue pins & polish/file)
