How do I structure my essay?

So the most important thing to start with is your argument, as this will form the skeleton/ base for your answer. You must always stay focused to the argument and not stray from it, so I would always write this in big letters on a notice board/ sticky notes, or if you are in an exam, maybe write in in the corner of the answer paper on each sheet! In your introduction, you then briefly lay out your argument, and give context for the question. They key here is to sign post your essay, so clearly lay out what you are going to discuss in the rest of your essay. For each paragraph, always use PEAL. You start with your Point that demonstrates your main argument, then use an Example, then Analyse it and finally, Link back to the question and onto the next paragraph. If you jot down a few sentences using this structure for your plan, it will mean that your essay with flow with a nice structure, even in an exam.
