What is an example of a human effect on biodiversity?

Biodiversity is defined as the range of different organisms that live in a particular ecosystem (the living and non-living components of an area, and how they interact to produce a system.) An example would be human population growth contributing to a decrease in biodiversity. To house the increasing population, there would be an increase in natural terrain being converted to urban regions. This could lead to a decrease in genetic biodiversity where groups of species are isolated and unable to interbreed. Additionally, to meet the energy demand of the increasing population, there would be an increased consumption of fossil fuels, leading to global warming. An increased temperature would decrease species biodiversity as organisms die due to not being adapted for the heat.
