Solve the equation 3x + 11 = 56

To begin this question, we need to subtract 11 from both sides. 

3x + 11 - 11 = 56 - 11

The two 11s on the left hand side cancel each other, while 56 - 11 = 45. 

Therefore, 

3x = 45

Now we need to divide both sides of the equation by 3 to find the value of x.

3x/3 = 45/3 

3x/3 = x while 45/3 = 15

Therefore x = 15.
