USO DELLA PARTICELLA "NE" - use of the particle "NE"

NE is a short but tricky word...sometimes even for Italian speakers!

1. Hai parlato DI MARIO ai tuoi amici? Sì, NE ho parlato ai miei amici.

2. Ti piace parlare DI CANI? Sì, mi piace parlarNE.

3. Quando esci DAL CINEMA? NE esco ora.

NE sostituisce (= takes the place of) DI, DA + NOME di PERSONA, COSA, ANIMALE, LUOGO

4. Hai DEL PANE? No, non NE ho.

5. Vuoi mangiare DELLE MELE? Sì, voglio mangiarNE tre.

NE si usa per parlare di UNA PARTE DEL TUTTO.

e.g. DELLE MELE (tutto) - TRE MELE (parte); DEL PANE (tutto) - NON  NE ( = nothing)

DOVE si usa?

NE esco ora; NE ho parlato ai miei amici; non NE ho

NE si usa di solito PRIMA DEL VERBO: se il verbo è NEGATIVO, NE si usa DOPO la negazione e PRIMA del verbo.

Mi piace parlarNE; Voglio mangiarNE tre.

il verbo è di modo INFINITO: NE si usa alla fine del verbo.

IMPORTANT! mangiarE + ne = mangiarne
