Explain what simple harmonic motion means?

Simple harmonic motion describes the motion of an object which has an acceleration that is directly proportional to its displacement from the equilibrium point and when the accelerations acts in the opposite direction to the displacement. Simple harmonic motion can be described using the formula a=-x(2πf)^2
