How can you make your work experience stand out on your medical application?

This is more straight forward than you think! A simple three step format works best....

Explain:

 1) What you did?
 2) What you learnt from you experience?
 3) How this relates to your future career as a doctor?

REMEMBER: All work experience skills are transferrable and relatable to medicine. This means that healthcare experience is NOT essential!!!

E.g. - "As a part time retail assistant I have had to deal with difficult customers and the issues they have with their recent purchases. I have used my communication skills to successfully diffuse difficult situations before consulting my manager if help is needed. Looking back on these situations, I appreciate the importance in medicine to seek help when experiencing difficulty and shall bear this in mind when facing newer, potentially dangerous challenges."
