How to analyse the win of Donald Trump in election from the view of communication theory?

the information on main newspapers and websites showed that Hillary would win the election. it seems like the final result was out of all people's expection. but actually the win of Donald Trump represents people's willing. "Spiral of silence", or we can say majority silence can explain this phenomenon. "Spiral of silence" tells that when some people know their opinions are different with main opinions in society, they chooose to be silent and escape to express and from pressure. so in this time opinion survey sometimes just represent some people's voice. in fact, the silent majority's view is hard to be change and they will do their choice in the end. this can explain the controdication of opinion survey and final result.
