When do I use wenn, wann or als?

Quick tip:

If you can replace the „when“ with „whenever“, it’s „wenn“.

If you can replace it with “at what time”, it’s “wann”.

If it’s in the PAST, and you cannot replace it with “whenever” or “at what time”, it’s probably “als”.

When I take a shower, I also wash my hair.

Wenn ich mich dusche, wasche ich mir auch die Haare.

In this case, wenn is used because you can replace the when with whenever.
