Impulse is defined as "the rate of change in momentum" and is given by the equation:

I = mv - mu,

where u is the initial velocity and v is the final velocity. Note that the units of impulse are Ns, so impulse can also be defined as as Force x Time, so can be found by the area under a force-time graph.
