Describe how different environmental factors affect: the direction of growth of roots the direction of growth of shoots. In your answer you should refer to the role of plant hormones.

Here a thoroughly thought out response to the question should be formulated it is not enough to simply know the name and role of plant hormones within it.
Start with a factor, it is helpful to know terminology here, as it will help you gain higher level marks. Geotrophism is a good place to start. Gravity is the factor that causes roots to grow downwards, into the soil. Then move on to explain how the plant hormone affects this, eg 'The uneven distribution in auxin in shoots, accumulating at the bottom of root tip causes promotion of downward growth in the root' I would use at least two examples of plant behaviour in this question to allow for maximum marks.
