What is the best way to begin a Medical Personal Statement.

People often get told to find a way to stand out. The problem is, there are 1000s of students all attempting the same thing. This means that anything you think is witty and original, the admissions people will have definitely seen before.

Although it's good to try and be original, don't make this the priority, as it can make the introduction seem forced and unrepresentative of you as a candidate.

The most important thing is to represent yourself in the best possible way. This means finding what makes YOU different to every other candidate. Not what quote or witty anecdote you find most interesting.

Therefore, start it off with the one thing that you are most proud of that you can relate to your desire to study medicine.
