Outline the structure of the alpha and beta particle and give their overall charge and a material which it cannot pass through.

Alpha - it is composed of 2 protons and 2 neutrons. It has an identical structure to a helium nucleus (an atom with no orbiting electrons). It has an over charge of +2. It cannot pass though a sheet of paper Beta - a very fast moving electron . a charge of -1. It is stopped by a sheet of aluminium foil
