Well, maybe accountants. But unfortunately taxes are a fact of life; and as a self-employed tutor on our platform, you\u2019ll know this more than many!<\/p>\n<p>Here are some <em>good<\/em> things you may not know about taxes\u2026.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>They don\u2019t bite \ud83e\udd88<\/li>\n<li>The system isn\u2019t there to catch you out \ud83d\udc6e<\/li>\n<li>The tax man is not going to take all your money \ud83e\udd11<\/li>\n<li>In fact, <strong>your first \u00a312,500 of earnings are tax free<\/strong> \ud83d\udcb8*<\/li>\n<li>If you\u2019re earning under \u00a350,000, you only pay 20% <em>after<\/em> the first \u00a312,500 \ud83d\udcb0*<\/li>\n<li>If you\u2019re earning more than \u00a350,000\u2026.fair play \ud83d\udc4f (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/income-tax-rates\">but you\u2019ll get taxed more<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>It doesn\u2019t take days to fill out your tax returns (but it helps if you\u2019ve been tracking your ingoings and outgoings) \ud83d\udcc6<\/li>\n<li>As a self-employed person, you can claim back on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/expenses-if-youre-self-employed\">expenses<\/a> (Pens! Paper!
