So your teen isn\u2019t sure what they want to be. Or, they\u2019re unsure which A-Level topics to choose, which university course to apply for or which next step to take. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lots of us fear being undecided about the future, but it\u2019s a very normal part of life. Not being certain actually opens us up to different options and opportunities. It means we ask questions and want to explore different paths.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Being undecided about the future is normal<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We tend to praise teens for knowing early on the career path they want to take. We also encourage them to make fast decisions and have a clear plan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the vast majority of teens feel undecided \u2013 and that\u2019s okay! A survey<\/a> by careers advice company notgoingtouni.com<\/a> found that a quarter of teens don\u2019t know what to do after compulsory education. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While a new study from youth employment company Youth Group<\/a> found that 63% of 18-25-year-olds are curious but unaware of the current career advice available to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thousands of pupils are unsure about the right route for them after school, and they\u2019re looking for information and support to help them decide. Rather than see this as a negative thing, it\u2019s time we flipped the concept of being undecided on its head. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are 5 ways that being undecided about the next step can actually be a great thing for your teen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. It means they\u2019re open to exploration <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBeing undecided and undeclared is a good place to be as it\u2019s a source of exploration,\u201d says singer and podcaster, Robby Celestin in his recent Tedx talk<\/a>, Being Decidedly Undecided<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Being curious and open to learning means your teen is more likely to try a wide range of subjects at school or modules at uni and they\u2019ll be more open to different paths, widening their options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All your teens\u2019 different experiences can also interlink. \u201cEverything we learn over \u2018here\u2019, eventually feeds something over \u2018there\u2019 \u2013 your life experiences and journeys will show you the way,\u201d says Robby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
